Portugal: Artists and song titles revealed for Festival da Canção 2018

After Sobral’s victory in Kiev, Portugal and especially Lisbon is getting ready for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in May. Apart from Eurovision, RTP, has also to choose the artists who will fly the Portuguese flag in front of Portugal’s audience.

Yesterday, RTP, revealed the 26 artists and the titles of their songs that will perform in Festival da Canção 2018. The winner of the festival will represent Portugal.

Two artists are coming back in FdC in oeder to try to represent Portugal again. Anabela represented Portugal at the ESC of 1993 and with her song A cidade (até ser dia)  and lasted 10th. José Cid, is the second artist that is returning after 1980 and his song Um grande, grande amor which lasted 7th and was until last year, Portugal’s best result.

 Festival da Canção 2018 kicks off  on the 18th of February (1st semi final), and continuous with the 2nd semi final on the 25th of February.  The first seven acts of every semi final show will take the ticket for the Grand Final which will take part in  Guimarães on the 4th of March.

RTP also announced the hosts of the Festival. In the first show, Jorge Gabriel and José Carlos Malato, in the second Sónia Araújo and Tânia Ribas de Oliveira and in the Final  Filomena Cautela and Pedro Fernandes are the six hosts of the three shows.
