Portugal: Festival da Canção 2018 – Results of the 1st Semi Final

Festival da Canção 2018  kicked last night with the 1st semi final, the national selection of Portuguese song for Eurovision 2018, which will be held for the first time in Portugal, aster the victory of Salvador Sobral with the song “Amar pelos dois” in Eurovision 2017.

The first semi-final was held at the RTP studio in Lisbon, hosted by Jorge Gabriel and José Carlos Malato. A total of 13 candidates participated in the show, from which 7 moved on to the  final. The winners were decided by televoting (50%) and by the jury (50%). The lury consisted of: Júlio Isidro (chairman) Ana Maria Bacalhau (singer), Carlão (singer), Luísa Sobral (composer of 2017 Amar Pelos Dois), Sara Tavares (Portuguese representative in 1994), Ana Markl (radio producer) Mário Lopes (journalist), Tozé Brito (composer) and António Avelar Pinho (composer).

The 13 acts of tonight’s semi final were:

After televoting and the jury votes, the 7 acts tha moved on to the Final show are:

Catarina Miranda – «Para sorrir não preciso de nada»

Janeiro – «(sem título)»

Joana Barra Vaz – «Anda estragar-me os planos»

Joana Espadinha – «Zero a zero»

Peu Madureira – «Só por ela»

The second semi final will be held on  the 25th of February, with the 13 remaining songs. The Final of Festival da Canção 2018  will be held on March 4th.
