San Marino: Eurovision 2019 act and entry already decided

The national broadcaster of San Marino, SMRTV has revealed that it has already concluded on its next Eurovision representative at Tel Aviv, while the entry he will preform has already been chosen.

The SanMarinese national broadcaster has already determined the act that will represent the country in Eurovision 2019 and is a singer with internatinal career. On the other hand the broadcaster revealed that event the song the act will perform is already chosen. The name of the act and the song are to be announced in the next couple of weeks.

he country’s Head of Delegation Alessandro Capicchioni has stated:

We are soon to host an official press conference in San Marino in a few weeks time, when we will give further details about RTV’s participation. At the moment we are working on the post production of the song and the videoclip.

While the Director General of SMRTV Carlo Romeo adds:

This year we have worked hard on several proposals, as the Israeli edition is important to us for many reasons. Eventually we chose the best project, fully supported and approved with a wonderful international artist. Fingers crossed, but I think we will have a very good entry. Good luck to all our friends and colleagues involved in the organization of such an important TV event, a world-wide event based on a joyous combination of music and dialogue, spectacle and friendship.

 

THE EUROVISION STORY SO FAR

San Marino debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 with Miodio and is yet to win the event. The landlocked country has participated in Europe’s favorite television show 9 times and has only made it to the Grand Final once, in 2014 when Valentina Monetta placed 24th in the Grand Final.

Valentina has flow the Sammarinese flag at the Eurovision Song Contest four times ( 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017).

In 2018 the Sammarinese broadcaster came up with a fresh and innovative approach to select its Eurovision act and entry for Lisbon, an online international national selection 1 in 360.

Jessika Muscat and Jennifer Brening won the 2018 Sammarinese national final and defended the Sammarinese colours at the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon with their entry  Who we are. Despite a great performance San Marino failed to qualify to the Grand Final for the fourth consecutive time.
