This specific kind of national final comes back after a 8 year break, since 2009 was the last year the country chose its representative via this type of selection. Then Μarko Kon & Milaan and their song  Cipela represented Serbia. Since then the country experienced different ways of selecting its Eurovision representative, either through internal selections or choosing internally the composer and holding a national final where the candidates performed the composer’s proposed songs.

This year the executives in charge of the national selection process revived the format of BEovizija. The winner of Beovizija 2018 will have the right to represent Serbia in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest next May in Lisbon and will be determined by a combination of public and jury voting. The exact date of the national final is to be shortly announced the days to come.

Last year Serbia was represented by  Tijana Bogićević with her entry In too Deep, which missed the grand final since it finished at 11th place in the semi final.
