Slovakia: No intention of returning to Eurovision in 2019
After Andorra’s and Luxembourg’s confirmation of not returning to the Eurovision Song Contest next year, the list joined another country, Slovakia.
The Slovakian national broadcaster, RTVS, has confirmed that Slovakia will not participate at the forthcoming 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Israel. The country has withdrawn from Eurovision since 2013 and has no intention returning due to financial restrictions.
The Eurovision Story So Far
Back in Slovakia in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 the country competed in the special preliminary semifinal in Slovenia, but failed to qualify and participate . It was right next year with Martin Durinda and Tublatanka when the country made its debut in Dublin. Since then the country has participated 8 times and it hasn’t much to show when it comes to results when its best placing was in Oslo with Marcel Palonder and his 18th placing
It was Max Jason Mai and his song Don’t close your eyes at ESC 2012 in Baku that represented Slovakia for the county’s last appearance.
