Slovenia: Alenka Gotar into politics

Alenka Gotar became known after her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007, where she represented Slovenia with the song “Cvet z juga”, winning Slovenia’s first qualification to the Grand Final after the semi-finals in 2004 and winning the 15th position with 66 points.

Alenka, with her striking voice, is gearing up for her career and going into politics. In particular, she is ready to be elected in constituency of Domžale , located in the center of the country. She is a member of the Slovenka Demokratska Stranka or the Democratic Party of Slovenia, a liberal-conservative political party that has existed in Slovenia since 1989 and today is in opposition to the government.

However, she is not the first Eurostar to enter the political scene, since 2004’s Eurovision winner, Ruslana, has also dealt with political affairs.
