Spain 2019: All you need to know about Miki and his entry “La Venda”
In this year’s Spanish national final, Eurovision Gala, a total of 10 songs were performed by 9 acts, who all came from the country’s talent show Operación Triunfo, the show used in order to determine the Eurovision 2019 entry. The 22 yo Miki Núñez even though having finished 6th in Operación Triunfo show and despite not being in the top 3 songs of the online voting, the energetic and vivid way he delivered his entry won people’s preference, who crowned him winner of the Spanish national final with his song “La Venda”
A few words about Miki
Miki was born on January 6,1996 in Barcelona. He started his music career as the frontman of the group Dalton Bang which usually performed covers of other known songs. In September 2018 he decides to take part in Operación Triunfo where he finishes in the 6th place. Through his participation he competes in the Spanish national final of Eurovision Gala with two songs, the first one entitled La Venda which came 1st and the second song entitled Nadie se salva which he performed with Natalia Lacunza and came 3rd.
The entry “La Venda”
The song is entirely in Spanish language and in Latin tempo while ii combines different kind of music elements from Catalan Rumba, Latin Pop and Ska. . Composer of the song is Adrià Salas, singer of the group La Pegatina which was nominated for a Grammy.
TVE, the Spanish national broadcaster, released an official music video for the revamped version of “La venda”. Most of the video’s scene were filmed in Mercantic de Sant Cugat del Vallés, an antique market and around different areas of Barcelona. Directors of the video are Adrià Pujol and Fèlix Cortés.
Miki also stated about the message of his video:
Both the staging and the video clip are very important for those who do not understand the lyrics. The message must be perfectly understood, which is not only partying and dancing: let us lose the restraints, that you have to love yourself more, that we can improve our day to day .

The Eurovision Story so far
Spain participated for the first time in 1961 with Conchita Bautista and has achieved twice to win , in 1968 (Massiel) and in 1969 (Salome). Madrid hosted the contest in 1969 where there was a four country tie in the first place on the final scoreboard.
Despite not having missed a single contest since 1961 , Spain doesn’t have remarkable results to show the latest year. Exception was Anabel Conde’s 2nd place in Eurovision 1995 held in Dublin. Spain has came in history 2nd four times ( 1971, 1973, 1979, 1995) while it has finished last 5 times (1962, 1965, 1983, 1999, 2017) from which the first three receiving null points.
Last year the wiiners of ΟΤ 2017, Alfred & Amaia , represented the country in Lisbon with their song Tu cancion and finished 23rd in the final.
