Sweden: 1st semi final results of Melodifestivalen 2018; John Lundvik and Benjamin Ingrosso directly to the final.
The first Melodifestivalen first semi final was held in the city of Karlstad at the Löfbergs Arena and finished just a few minutes before. Host of the show was David Lindgren familiar to the audience from his participation in past Melodifestivalen years (2012, 2013 και 2016). In this evening’s first semi final we watched 7 acts compete for two Grand final spots and for 2 spots in the second chance semi final round.
The 7 acts that competed tonight were:
- Sigrid Bernson – Patrick Swayze
- John Lundvik – My Turn
- Renaida – All the Feels
- Edward Blom – Livet på en pinne
- Kikki Danielsson – Osby Tennessee
- Kamferdrops – Solen lever kvar hos dig
- Benjamin Ingrosso – Dance You Off
Among this night’s acts , Kikki Danielsson had participated in Melodifestivalen 9 times before, represented Sweden in Eurovision 1982 (8th place) and in 1985 (3rd place) and had participated in the Norwegian national final back in 2003. Benjamin Ingrosso competed last year in Melodifestivalen 2017 with his song «Good lovin» achieving a 5th placing. Lastly, John Lundvik was the composer of the entry «Natural» which competed in Melodifestivalen 2014.
The voting process consisted of two rounds, both in which only the audience voted. In the first phase of voting the top 5 acts that received the most audience votes and moved on the second round were the ones pictured below:
After the 2nd round the first two artists that gathered the most votes and qualified directly to the big final were:
- John Lundvik – My Turn (Tonight’s winner)
- Benjamin Ingrosso – Dance You Off
The two acts that came 3rd and 4th in votes and qualified to the second chance semi final round were:
- Renaida – All the Feels
- Sigrid Bernson – Patrick Swayze
Next week 10/02 the 2nd semi final will take place at the Scandinavium in the city of Gothenburg.
