Sweden 2019: On August 31, the submissions for the Melodifestivalen 2019

Sweden is looking forward to the competition in Israel, as SVT confirms the launch of submissions for the Melodifestivalen 2019.

Starting 31 August, Sweden’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 begins. For a period of three weeks, the audience will be able to submit songs for the Melodifestivalen 2019. Melodifestivalen’s producer Christer Björkman shared his thoughts on the national final of 2019:

“After a strong year for Melodifestivalen with yet another top result for Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest, we are now looking forward to a new season for Melodifestivalen. As usual we want range and variety and therefore we are looking for songs in different languages, types and styles”.

28 songs will compete in the Melodifestivalen. The 14 will be selected by a group of the public submission process. The remaining 14 songs will be selected directly by SVT, either by invitation or by the public submission process. As always, the winner of P4 Nästa will be guaranteed one of Melodifestivalen’s candidates.

Benjamin Ingrosso represented Sweden at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.. In the Grand Final, he reached the 7th place  with 274 points. Sweden scored its worst result for the last decade in the TV vote, reaching 23rd place and marking only 21 points.
