Sweden: John Lundvik wins Melodifestivalen 2019 with “Too Late for Love” and books his ticket for Tel Aviv
After 4 qualifying semi final heats and a second chance semi final round, the Swedish national selection of Melodifestivalen 2019 reached this evening its Grand Final show. John Lundvik was crowned winner of the Swedish national final with the song and will be representing Sweden in Eurovision 2019 next May in Tel Aviv with his song Too late for love
The final show took place at Friends Arena in Stockhlom and hosts of the show will be Marika Carlsson, Eric Saade, Kodjo Akolor and Sara Dawn Finer.In the previous qualifying semi finals we saw a total of 28 acts compete. 7 acts in each semi final , from which 2 qualified directly to the final and two more to the second chance round. In the second chance round 8 acts took the stage performing in 4 Duels, the winner in votes from each duel filled qualified to the final show.
Therefore 12 contestants that competed in tonight’s final show of Melodifestivalen 2019 were :

The winner of Melodifestivalen 2019 will represent Sweden in Tel Aviv and the result were determined by a combination of public voting and an international jury voting which was made up from the following countries:
- Austria
- Australia
- France
- United Kingdom
- Israel
- Cyprus
- Portugal
- Finland

After the televoting results were added the final scoreboard declared John Lundvik as the big winner of the night and the next Swedish Eurovision representative.
Guests in tonight’s show will be last year’s winner Benjamin Ingrosso,ο Felix Sandman (Melodifestivalen 2018 – 2nd place), the Swedish ESC 2008 act and ESC 1999 winner Charlotte Perrelli, and the Israeli ESC 2011 representative and winner of Eurovision 1998 Dana International.
ABOUT LUNDVIK
Lundvik was born in London and was adopted when he was a week old by a Swedish couple who worked there. The family stayed in London until he was six years old. They then moved to Växjö , where he grew up.
Lundvik wrote together with Jörgen Elofsson the song ” When You Tell the World You’re Mine “, performed by Björn Skifs and Agnes Carlsson at the wedding ceremony of the Crown Princess Couple in Storkyrkan on June 19, 2010.
He has been a songwriter for artists such as Isac Elliot , Anton Ewald and Sanna Nielsen and has written film music for Snabba Cash . He participated in Allsång at Skansen in August 2016, including in duet with Lill Lindfors . He has also written songs for the TV series Empire . Lundvik competed in Melodifestivalen 2018 with the song ” My Turn ” where he came in third place in the final
