Sweden: Melodifestivalen 2016 procedures kick off.
Seems as if the Scandinavian countries this year have got in the game determined to do their best and have warmed up the engines for their national selections.
Sweden cound’nt have been the exception this year especially being last year’s winner and the host country of the next contest . SVT, the national swedish broadcaster has opened the window for songs submissions for Melodifestivalen 2016.Songs can be submitted for Sweden’s biggest TV show until September 16 at 8:59am. . A national selection will be professionally held , with 28 acts (including the winner of Svensktoppen Nasta) making the first cut for four semi-finals to be held in spring 2016 across Sweden.
Speculation on which acts will put songs forward for the competition is heating up and SVT will announce the full lineup in autumn. Melodifestivalen comsidered by many people as a “small eurovision” is the format through which Sweden determines it s representative for every year’s Eurovision Song Contest. A total of 4 semi finasl take place , from which the first two places lead to the grand final and the third places in each semi final give the artists the opportunity to compete in the Andra Chansen (=second chance) round and fight for the two last tickets that lead to the final.
In Melodifestivalen 2015 Måns Zelmerlöw was by far the clear winner with his song Heroes and not only flew the Swedish flag in the 60th Eurovision Contest but gave to his country its sixth victory in the contest.
