Sweden: Tonight the first semi final of Melodifestivalen 2021
The Swedish Eurovision 2021 national selection kicks off tonight at 20:00 CET with the first semi final show of Melodifestivalen 2021.
The first semi final of Melodifestivalen 2021 is set to hit our screens tonight live from Stockholm, while hosts of the event will be Christer Bjorkman alongside with Lena Philipsson (Swedish Eurovision 2004 act with the song “It Hurts”). In this evening’s 4th semi final we will see 7 more acts compete for the two spots that lead directy to the final and two more to the second chance round.
The seven entries that will take the stage tonight are:
- Kasiatou – “One Touch”
- Lillasyster – “Pretender”
- Jessica Anderson – “Horizon”
- Paul Rey – “The Missing Piece”
- Arvingarna – “Tänker inte alls gå hem”
- Nathalie Brydolf – “Fingerprints”
- Danny Saucedo – “Dandi dansa”
Among this evening’s semi final 1 contestants we see Arvingarna who represented Sweden in ESC 1993 making a new attempt to represent the country on the Eurovision stage, while also past ESC participant Jessica Anderson, as member of Fame in ESC 2003, makes a comeback in the competition. Paul Rey and Danny Saucedo both former Melfest participants return in the Swedish national selection.
The voting process incudes two rounds, both in which only the public votes determine the result. In the first round the five acts with the most votes qualify to a second round of public voting. The first two acts in this second round of votes qualify directly to the Grand final on March 13 while the 3rd and 4th will compete in the second chance round set for March 6, 2021.
