Sweden: Wiktoria will not be disqualified from Melodifestivalen 2019
Following the reports on Wiktoria’s possible disqualification, after her song had leaked for two hours on Spotify by accident, her song ‘Not With Me’ won’t be disqualified eventually.
Nellie Sörman from Sony Music gives more explanations by stating that Melodifestivalen songs go into a “release mode”, in order to come out quickly if they don’t move on in the competition or reach the second chance semi final. Something went wrong this time and the song was released on the web.
Immediately after the inicdent Sony went in talks with broadcaster SVT which concluded in the following statement by Melodifestivalen’s Project Leader Anette Helenius to Dagens Nyheter:
After a conversation with Sony Music, our opinion is that there was no inention to release the song on Spotify. We don’t think the damage is done on such a scale that it would require us to take measures.
From that latest statement it’s clear that SVT took in mind that the incident had nothing to do with Sony’s real intentions and was a minor one with insignificant consequences as the reaction by the label was instant to prevent further complication. Under these circumstances Wiktoria will be competing in the Melodifestivalen final on March 9!
