Switzerland: SRF calls for song submissions.
The Swiss national broadcaster SRF, in corporation with the rest Swiss broadcasters RTS, RSI and RTR, in order to find the country’s next representative, made a public invitation to all singers and composers interested to start submitting their songs. The public submissions window will be open until October 24th 2016. However this year’s selection doesn’t allow international composers and singers to compete individually but one of their team members involved must come from Switzerland.
This year, a special jury of 20 members will decide the final contestants of the national final which will take place on February 5th 2017. The songs submitted won’t be visible on a public platform like last year and the final songs will go public after the jury’s selection. The final winner will be determined exclusively by televoting.

THE STORY SO FAR
Switzerland has achieved 1st place twice so far. The first was at the very first contest, back in 1956 with Lys Assia’s Refrain and the second one was in 1988 with Celine Dion’s Ne partez pas sans moi.
Next year will be the 58th participation for the country in the 62 years history of Eurovision contest. Switzerland has missed the contest only 4 times precisely due to previous bad results. (1995, 1999, 2001 and 2003). Having 4 official languages, was a convenient factor for Switzerland during the years when the use of the official language was compulsory.
In 2016, Switzerland was represented by Rykka and her entry The Last of our kind but unfortunately did not qualify to the Grand Final.
