Switzerland : SRF receives 515 entries for Eurovision 2020

The Swiss national selection process is in full swing as the national broadcaster SRF has been receiving the last weeks entries for Eurovision 2020. Can the country repeat this year’s top 5 placing in the forthcoming competition next May in Rotterdam?

Having the submission period completed the Swiss broadcaster revealed through its twitter accout that it has received a total of 515 entries for the next edition of Eurovision Song Contest.

Switzerland this year will stick with the same national selection recipe that gave her a 4th placing in this year’s competition after four years of non qualifying results. The Swiss Eurovision 2020 act  will be determined by a  50/50 between a professional jury and a 100-member public panel.

THE STORY SO FAR

Switzerland made its debut in the first  Eurovision Song Contest back in 1956 and won the same year with Lys Assia. It was not until 1988  when the country was crowned winner for the 2nd time with Celine Dion leaving in second place behind the United Kingdom only by a narrow margin of 1 point.

In 2018 reached its 4th year of non qualifying results with the duo Zibbz and their song Stones. However this year Luca Hänni made the difference for Switzerland as his entry “She Got me” not only managed to reach the grand final but achieved a 4th placing, the best result since 1993. Let remembe Luca’s energetic performance on Expo Tel Aviv stage:
