Tel Aviv rehearsals Day 4: Sergey Lazarev makes his debut rehearsal

Expo Tel Aviv sees the fourth day of rehearsals, with the 2nd half of the second semi-final evening unfolding on the impressive stage of Expo Tel Aviv. The rest eight countries of the 2nd semi final that will rehearse today, following yesterday’s first set of nine countries, are Croatia, Malta, Lithuania, Russia, Albania, Norway, The Netherlands, North Macedonia, Azerbaijan.

After Lithuania it’s time for Russia and Sergey Lazarev to make his first rehearsal. Sergey who was the definite favorite to win Eurovision in Stockholm back in 2016 returns this year with an epic ballad entitled “Scream”. Will Sergey turn the tables and bring the trophy back home  on this year’s second Eurovision attempt?

His 2019 performance will be featured by falling rain and mirrors, about which the stage choreographer Fokas Evagelinos says:

Each mirror represents a different point of view of ourselves! When we are in the process of making a difficult decision , that can even makes us “scream”, in the beginning we only see one option but us we move forward we see different alternatives. In order to reach our goal and leave the past behind we have to “break through”!

Sergey Lazarev appears on stage wearing a white shirt and tight white jeans. Behind him several mirrors seem to  reflect his image. At the beginning of the song his reflection in the mirror gets independent motion from his real moves  to fall back again and comply with is actual movement on stage.

At some point later he stands behind a window glass as rain drops are running down on it. Behind the LED background initially displays rain of stars which turn progressively into a storm with lightning.

Vocally very good and always on tone, reaching the high notes following the song’s escalation. A very impressive comeback for Sergey !
