The host nation of Eurovision 2020 has decided internally that Jeangu Macrooy will defend the Dutch colors next May in Rotterdam. Today the Dutch representative revealed the date he will release his Eurovision 2020 entry.

Dutch-Surinamese singer-songwriter Jeangu Macrooy announced that his song will be released on March 4th.

For Jeangu, his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest will be the biggest adventure yet. Jeangu:

I feel indescribably honored! It is a very big dream come true and the most beautiful thing that has come my way so far. My team and I are eager to put something that the Netherlands can be proud of. Let’s go!

A few words about Jeangu Macrooy

Jeangu Macrooy is born in 1993 in Paramaribo, Suriname. His musical journey begins when he receives a guitar from his parents at the age of thirteen and forms a musical duo with his twin brother Xillan. But Jeangu wants more, so in 2014 he boarded the plane to the Netherlands. There he meets producer / composer Perquisite, with whom he enters into a musical collaboration and who signs him with his label Unexpected Records. From that moment Jeangu steps through the Dutch music world with seven-mile boots. He becomes Serious Talent at 3FM, nominated several times for an Edison, a welcome guest at De Wereld Draait Door and participates in The Passion.

With two successful albums to his name and several sold-out club tours, Jeangu is increasingly revealing his potential. He knows what he wants better than ever: telling a story that is as honest as possible. With his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, Jeangu is confidently taking the next international step on the road ahead. A road full of ambition to make dreams come true, in a career that shines more and more.

THE STORY SO FAR

The Netherlands has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 60 times since making its debut as one of the seven countries at the first contest in 1956, and has missed only four contests so far (1985, 1991, 1995 and 2002).The Netherlands has won the contest four times, with Corry Brokken in 1957, Teddy Scholten in 1959, Lenny Kuhr in a four-way tie in 1969 and Teach-In in 1975,

The country has achieved some remarkable results in the past finishing 4th with Sandra & Andres (1972), 3rd with Mouth & MacNeal (1974), 5th with Maggie MacNeal (1980), 5th with Marcha (1987) and fourth with Edsilia Rombley (1998). Its worst results were in 1958, 1962, 1963, 1968, when it finished last and in 2011 when ending up last in the semifinal.

Eurovision 2020 will take place in Rotterdam next May after Duncan Lawrence’s victory in Tel Aviv last May. Lets remember Duncan’s epic performance that brough the Eurovision trophy to Dutch soil.
