THE TRUTH ABOUT IL VOLO AND LADY GAGA
On October 10, 2015 at the Waldorf Astoria Grand Ballroom in New York took place the 71st Annual Columbus Celebration Gala of the Columbus Citizens Foundation as part of the celebrations of the Columbus Day. This black tie dinner has the aim to celebrate the bonds between Italy and the United States and also to raise funds for scholarships.
Beyond this event the celebrations include “the traditional wreath laying at Columbus Circle, a solemn Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the world’s largest celebration of Italian-American culture – New York’s Annual Columbus Day Parade, on Fifth Avenue”.
During the dinner the Foundation honoured several personalities, all them leaders, committed to their families and community and proud of their Italian heritage. This year, were recognised: the Grand Marshal Alberto Cribiore, Vice Chairman of Citi Institutional Clients Group, Guy Chiarello, President of First Data, Aldo Verrelli, President & Owner of A. Verrelli & Associates. The Humanitarian Award was given to Stefani Germanotta (Lady Gaga) and to her mother Cynthia for their work with the Born This Way Foundation.
Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble – Il Volo – participated on the gala dinner and award ceremony, that had amazing performances. Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett and also Il Volo performed on the event. A wonderful evening for Angelo Vivolo, the President, and for all the members of The Columbus Citizens Foundation.
Today, Il Volo performed on the red carpet of the Columbus Day Parade that took place on Fifth Avenue from 47th to 72nd Street, conducted by Maria Bartiromo and Joe Piscopo.
