Tonight: A full night ahead with 5 National Finals and 2 semi finals.

Another Saturday night full of action , as 5 countries will determine their ESC 2018 representative and another two will move on to their semi final rounds. Specifically, Latvia, Moldova, Hungary, Ukraine and Slovenia will hold their national finals while Sweden and Lithuania will continue their national selection with semi final rounds.

Latvia – Final

This year, Latvia’s national selection , Supernova, consists of 4 shows: 3 semi final rounds and one final that will take place tonight. Hosts of the night will be the actress Dagmara Legante and  Justs Sirmais( ESC 2016 representative) and the show will be aired live from Riga.

In the previous 3 semi finals we watched a total of 21 acts compete and being split up in three sets of seven acts. In Each semi final the 2 acts receiving the most jury and public votes qualified to the final. However, due to a mistake in the 2nd semi final results, the acts that eventually qualified were three instead of two. After the 2nd semi final rounds a wildcard was awarded to one artist that hadn’t managed to reach the final.

Therefore the 8 finalists of tonight’s show are:

  2. Ritvars – Who’s Counting?
  3. MADARA – Esamība
  4. Liene Greifāne – Walk the Talk
  5. Lauris Valters – Lovers Bliss
  6. Edgars Kreilis – Younger Days
  7. Laura Rizzotto – Funny Girl
  8. Markus Riva – This Time

The winner will be determined by a combination of public and jury voting, which is formed by DJ Rudd (musician), Jolanta Gulbe-Paškeviča (Jazz singer), Janis Lūsēns (composer) και Ilze Jansone ( Supernova’s producer).

Latvia’s final will start at 20:25 CET and can be watched on Supernova’s official site.

Μoldova – Final

Moldova’s national broadcaster, TRM, has received 28 applications for the country’s national final O Melodie Pentru Europa 2018, . However Pelageya Stefoglo was disqualified, since she had taken part in Belarus’ auditions, fact forbidden according to national final rules.  The rest 27 acts, after live auditions were listed down to 16, that will compete in tonight’s O Melodie Pentru Europa Final:

  15. Vera Țurcanu – Black Heart
  16. Ruslan Tsar – Come to life

The winner will be determined by the public voting and a jury of special musicians with leading jury member the ESC 2009 representative, Nelly Ciobanu.

Hungary -Final

The Hungarian national selection A Dal, reaches its end tonight with the national final. Hosts of the evening will be Kriszta Rátonyi  and Freddie (Ουγγαρία ESC 2016).

This year’s A Dal consisted of 3 qualifying rounds that included 30 competing acts, 2 semi finals where 18 acts coming from the previous rounds and eventually a final with 8 contestants:

From these 8 acts the jury, that consists of Judit Schell (actor), Misi Mező (head vocalist and guitarist of the Hungarian group Magna Cum LaudetheKároly Frenreisz (singer and composer) and Miklós Both (composer- performer- guitarist) will choose 4 acts. Afterwards the public will have to vote and determine which one from those four will be the country’s next ESC representative 2018.

Ukraine – Final

Before reaching today’s final of Ukraine’s Eurovision 2018 national selection, , Vidbir,  a total of 18 acts competed in two semi final rounds. From each semi final 3 acts were determined by the audience and jury to qualify to the final.

Tonight we will watch 6 finalists battle for the golden ticket to Lisbon. Host of the final will be  Serhiy Pritula and the show will be aired live from Kiev.

Public and jury voting will determine the final winner. The jury consists of Jamala (ESC 2016 winner), Andriy Danylko (Ukraine’s ESC 2007 representative ) and Eugene Filatov (singer, producer and the founder of the group Onuka).

ESC 2016 winner, Jamala, apart from being the member of the jury will perform in stage her new song  Krila.

Slovenia – Final

The final of Slovenia’s national selection, ΕΜΑ, will take place tonight to determine the country’s next Eurovision Song Contest representative. Hosts of the night will be the stand-up comedian, actor  and conductor Vid Valič and singer  Raiven.

In EMA 2018  a total of 16 acts participated initially in last Saturday’s semi final. From this number only 8 made it to tonight’s final. Four of them were decided by a jury while anither set of 4 were determined by public voting.

The 8 finalists are :

  3. Ina Shai – Glow
  4. BQL – Promise
  5. Marina Martensson – Blizu 
  6. Lara Kadis – Zdaj sem tu
  7. Proper – Ukraden cvet

Note that in the semi final the contestants were bound to perform in Slovenian. This limitation does not exist in tonight’s final. The winner will be determined by public and jury voting.

Sweden – 4th semi final

The Swedish national selection, Melodifestivalen, continuous to unwind with the 4th semi final taking place in the city of  Örnsköldsvik.  David Lindgren (past participant of Melodifestivalen 2012, 2013 and 2016) will be the host of tonight’s show.

Tonight another set of 7 acts will battle for 2 spots directly to the final and 2 more in the second chance semi final. The seven acts are:

  1. Emmi Christensson – Icarus
  2. Elias Abbas – Mitt paradis
  3. Felicia Olsson – Break That Chain
  4. Rolandz – Fuldans
  5. Olivia Eliasson – Never Learn
  6. Felix Sandman – Every Single Day
  7. Mariette – For You

Among this evening’s acts we meet  Felicia Olsson (Melodifestivalen 2013),  Felix Sandman (member of the group FO&O that participated inMelodifestivalen 2017) and Mariette with two past attempts in Melodifestivalen (2015 and 2017).

The voting includes two rounds in which only the public will vote. The first 5 who receive the most votes qualify to a second round of voting . After the 2nd round the first two acts will qualify directly to the final, while the 3rd and 4th qualify to the second chance semi final that will be held next week.

Lithuania – 1st semi final

Tonight will take place the 1st semi final of Eurovizijos, Lithuania’s national selection format. Host of the show will me once more  Ugnė Skonsmanaitė and Mantas Stonkus.

After 6 qualifying rounds with a total of 50 contestants we have reached to 14 candidates who will compete in the two semi final in sets of 7 acts.The first set of seven acts that will compete tonight in the 1st semi final are:

  2. GeraiGerai & Silvija Pankūnaitė – More Than You Know
  3. Kotryna Juodzevičiūtė – That Girl
  4. The Roop – Yes I Do 
  5. Godo – Fire Fountain

  7. Jurgis Brūzga – 4Love

Out of these 7 only three acts will move on to the final of  Eurovizijos. The 3 spots will be decided by jury and public voting.
