Tonight: Five Semi final national selection shows to take place
In addtion to today’s 4 national finals (Australia, Latvia, Malta, Italy) five more countries (Norway, Sweden, Lithuania, Ukraine, Iceland) will be holding semi final rounds in their national selections for Eurovision 2020. Take a look below to all the details of tonight’s semi final shows and how to watch them.
Norway – MGP 5th semi final
The Norwegian national selection continues to unfold with the 5th semi final of the Melodi Grand Prix. The show will take place at H3 Arena in Fornebu and will be presented to us by Kåre Magnus Bergh, Ingrid Gjessing Linhave and Ronny Brede Aase.
While a professional jury of experts has already selected 5 acts that have already prequalified to the final, the rest 5 spots in the final will be filled in by the winners of the five semi final rounds. After the first three semi final rounds for MGP 2020, the selection moves on to the 4th semi final round in order to determine one more MGP 2020 finalist . On stage will appear one more prequalified finalist, Tone Damli who will perform her national final entry Hurts Sometimes.
The 4 contestants of the 4th MGP semi final (Western Norway), are the following:
- Elin & The Woods – “We Are As One”
- Jenny Jenssen – “Mr. Hello”
- Kevin Boine – “Stem på mæ”
- Liza Vassilieva – “I Am Gay”
Among the contestants we see Elin & The Woods and Jenny Jenssen both former MGP 2017 participants. Tone Damli is too no stragner to the Eurovision audience as he had taken part in the Norwegian national final in 2009 with her entry Butterflies, finishing 2nd behind the ESC winner that year, Alexander Rybak. Additionally she had competed in Melodifestivalen 2013 with Erik Segerstedt.
As in every semi final we will see the four acts compete in duels. The two winners from each duel will battle in a final Gold Duel, from which the winer will win the ticket for the MGP final. .

Sweden – Melodifestivalen 2nd semi final
The Swedish national selection starts tonight as Melodifestivalen, kicks off with its first semi final. The show will take place at Scandinavium in Gothenburg , while host of the event will be Lina Hedlund, Linnea Henriksson and David Sundin. In this evening’s 2nd semi final we will see 7 more acts compete for the two spots that lead directy to the final and two more to the second chance round.
The seven entries that will take the stage tonight are:
- Klara Hammarström – “Nobody”
- Jan Johansen – “Miraklernas tid”
- Dotter – “Bulletproof”
- Méndez feat. Alvaro Estrella – “Vamos amigos”
- Linda Bengtzing – “Alla mina sorger”
- Paul Rey – “Talking in My Sleep”
- Anna Bergendahl – “Kingdom Come”
A lot of comeback in this semi final round! We see Melodifestivalen veteran Linda Bengtzing returns alongside with Dotter, Mendez and Alvaro Estrella . Jan Johansen who participated in Eurovision 1995 with his entry “Se pa mej” (3rd place) replaced disqualified Thorsten Flinck, . Anna Bergendahl, is too back after last year’s particiaption with “Ashes to Ashes”. Anna has won Melodifestivalen 2010 but failed to reach the final of Eurovision.
The voting process incudes two rounds, both in which only the public votes. In the first round the five acts with the most votes qualify to a second round of public voting. The first two acts in this seconsd round qualify directy to the final while the 3rd and 4th will compete in the second chance round.

Lithuania – Pabandom iš naujo 2nd semi final
The Lithuanian national selection after its first semi final show move on with the 2nd semi final of Pabandom iš naujo. Hosts of the night are Gabrielė Martirosian and Giedrius Masalskis, alongside with the country’s ESC 2018 representative, Ieva Zasimauskaitė.
The second set of 8 acts (instead of nine after Evgenya Redko’s withdrawal due to health reasons) that had qualified from the qualifying rounds will compete in tonight’s 2nd semi final show:

- Petunija – Show Ya
- Germanas Skoris – Chemistry (Breaking Free)
- Moniqué – Make Me Human
- Rokas Povilius – Vilnius Calling
- Monika Marija – If I Leave
- Andy Vaic – Why Why Why
- The Backs – Fully
From these nine only 4 will qualify to the final. The outcome will be determined by a jury (50%) made up by Darius Užkuraitis, Gerūta Griniūtė, Giedrė Kilčiauskienė, Vaidotas Stackevičius and Leon Somov, and by the publoc vote (50%) .

Ukraine – Vidbir 2020 1st semi final
The Ukrainian national selection for Eurovision 2020, Vidbir 2020, kicks off tonight with the first semi final round that will see 8 out of a total of 16 acts compete in order to make it to the final.
The 8 first semi final competing acts are:

- Jerry Heil – Vegan
- Katya Chilly – Pich
- Krutь – 99
- Go-A – Solovey
- Cloudless – Drown Me Down
- Gio – Feeling So Lost
- Assol – Save It
From these 8 contestants 3 only will make it to the final . The result will be determined 50% by televoting and 50% by a jury made up by Andreiy Danilko – Verka Serduchka (Ukraine 2007) , Tina Karol (Ukraine 2006) and Vitaliy Drozdov (General producer of Hit FM Radio).

Iceland – Songvakeppnin 2020 1st semi final
The Icelandic national selection kicks off tonight with the first semi final heat of Songvakeppnin 2020, set to take place at Haskolabio Conference Hall in Reykjavik
Five contestants will take the stage in this first semi final round:
- Brynja Mary–Augun þín
- DIMMA–Almyrkvi
- Elísabet–Elta þig
- Ísold & Helga–Klukkan tifar
- Kid Isak–Ævintýri
Among the acts we notice Elísabet which had competed in the 2016 national final. From these 5 acts only two will make it to the final and the result will be determined by public and jury voting (50% each) , while one wildcard will be awarded to one act from both semi final rounds.
