United Kingdom: Electro Velvet flying to Vienna!
The British national broadcaster, BBC, officially revealed the name of the representative who will go on to represent the United Kingdom at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.
During the special BBC announcement show, Our Song for Eurovision 2015, it was revealed by host Scott Mills that Electro Velvet would represent the United Kingdom at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in the host city of Vienna. with the entry Still in love with you.
Electro Velvet is a duo consisting of Alex Larke and Bianca Nicholas. This is the first time the duo has worked in collaboration with each other.
ALEX LARKE
Alex is a 35-year-old singer from Welwyn Garden City.
Alex is currently the lead vocalist of the group The Rollin’ Clones, one of the largest Rolling Stones tribute bands in the world.
Alex is also a part-time teacher and has worked in a number of primary schools around the country, using his experience and talent to inspire the younger generation. Alex has also worked at a special needs school.
BIANCA NICHOLAS
26-year-old Bianca is singer and actress from Beckenham.
Bianca has performed at a number of events over her musical career, a notable event being when she performed for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as Prince Harry at a high-profile charity event.
Bianca released her first single in 2011 entitled Hold on to your dreams which entered the Top 100 of the UK charts. Hold on to your dreams later went on to re-enter the charts following her blind audition in the 2014 edition of The Voice UK.
THE ENTRY
Electro Velvet’s UK Eurovision entry, Still in love with you, was written and produced by bothDavid Mindel and Adrian Bax White. The entry was selected after the BBC called for singers and songwriters to submit their entries to the national broadcaster, in which they received over 300 entries.
Last year Molly Smitten-Downes was internally selected to represent the United Kingdom at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in the host city of Copenhagen. With her entry Children of the universe, Molly finished in 17th place receiving a total of 40 points.
