United Kingdom: Six artists and songs revealed for Eurovision-You Decide 2018.
BBC Music today confirmed late tonight the names of the six acts and songs that will compete on Eurovision: You Decide 2018 stage, the national final to determine next UK’s Eurovision representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal .

The British national final will take place on February 7 at the world-famous Brighton Dome, the site of ABBA’s 1974 Eurovision Song Contest win with Waterloo. The show  will be Hosted by Mel Giedroyc and Eurovision 2015 winner , Måns Zelmerlöw, and will be aired live on BBC Two at 7.30pm.

The six acts and songs will be played this week on BBC Radio 2’s Ken Bruce show from Wednesday 24 January and are as follows:

Asanda – Legends

Written by Christopher Wortley, Laurell Barker and Roel Rats

Asanda is not unknown to the British audience as she appeared back in 2013 on Britain’s got Talent at the age of  11. Referring to her song she said:

“It is a unique song with a very energetic rhythm and has a tribal feel to it. I think the melody and the lyrics come together to form a very beautiful and inspirational message that is relatable to everyone.”

Goldstone – I Feel The Love

Written by Eric Lumiere, Joakim Buddee, Laura White and Roel Rats

Goldstone are a modern girl group formed by Aimie, Helen and Rhiannon . All three of them have an experience of singing of acting on TV and on music stage. According to their latest statements they said:

We adore our song! It’s just so hopeful! And with everything that is happening in the world right now it really hits home. It makes you feel positive about the future and its message is that it doesn’t matter who you are, who you love or where you come from – we can always band together and unite.”

Jaz Ellington

Written by Ashley Hicklin, Herman Gardarfve and Laura White

Jaz is an old-school soul singer and as a seasoned vocal arranger. Speaking about his song he stated:

 “The song is a story of two people in a relationship. The person telling the story compares everything his partner does, to the one he truly loves. It’s beautiful and yet sad at the same time, I just love it.”

Liam Tamne – Astronaut

Written by Ashley Hicklin, Jacob Pedersen, Jeanette Bonde and Rune Braager

Liam too has a large wide experience in singing and acting . He has been part of worldwide famous musicals a few of which are:  Wicked, Hairspray, Les Misérables, The Phantom Of The Opera and The Rocky Horror Show . Referring to his song he said to the media:

 “It’s a great song and I believe many people can relate to it. The message will resonate with a lot of people, as we all need that someone at some point in our lives to pick us up and whisk us away.”

RAYA – Crazy

Written by Emil Rosendal Lei, Greta Salóme Stefánsdóttir and Samir Salah Elshafie

Being a trained dancer, a vocal coach and a DJ , RAYA, has performed in dozens of big venues all over the world while experienced acting on TV and stage. Commenting on her songs she shared the following thoughts with the media.

 “It’s extremely catchy and upbeat with a really fresh and commercial feel. It’s all about that new guy or girl who you can’t get out of your head no matter how hard you try.”

SuRie – Storm

Written by Nicole Blair, Gil Lewis and Sean Hargreaves

SuRie is. She isquite familiar to the Eurovision family , appearing as a backing singer for Loïc Nottet in 2015 and Blanche at Eurovision 2017. As an actress and singer she starred as Fontaine in the 20th Anniversary of Les Misérables. Surie said about her song:

“Storm is a smash! It’s a dynamic combination of a more intimate, piano lead, singer songwriter style start, building into this anthemic, soulful pop party!”

Also on the night of the show, a professional panel will share its thoughts about the songs , the staging and try to help choose the most

As last year, the winner of Eurovision: You Decide 2018 will be determined by a 50:50 combination of public and music professional jury votes. The public is able to vote for its favorite song via telephone or online via bbc.co.uk/eurovision

Last year the country was represented by Lucie Jones and her song Never give up on you which ended in the 15th place in the Grand Final . Lets remember her dynamic performance on stage in Kiev:
