United States: EBU agreement with Netflix brings Eurovision 2019 and 2020 in the U.S

The Eurovision Song Contest is crossing the Atlantic as the European Broadcasting Union made public that the Eurovision 2019 and 2020 will be availible in the United States via Netflix. 

From next Monday  the two Semi final shows and the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 will be on Netflix program in the United States. The 65th edition of the contest in 2020  will be  available on-demand as soon as the competition takes place. The American company, which offers streaming movies and television series over the internet under paid subscription status, has got the video-on-demand (VOD) rights for all three shows in both editions of the contest. 

Fans across the USA will be able to watch the world biggest live music contest on the TV screen from Monday 22 July, and enjoy all thress shows of this year’s edition in Tel Aviv. However next year’s contest will be available only after the event has taken place in The Netherlands. 

Eurovision Song Contest Executive Supervisor Jon Ola Sand stated on EBU’s deal with Netflix:

The European Broadcasting Union is thrilled that the world’s biggest entertainment show will now be available on-demand for viewers in the USA, one of the biggest TV markets.U.S viewers will now get to enjoy all three of this year’s fantastic shows for the first time as well as the entire Contest in 2020. This is perfect timing with plans to launch a US version of the Contest in 2021.
