Wales: Manw selected for Junior Eurovision 2018
Manw will represent Wales on their first participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this November in Minsk, Belarus.
Wales will be debuting in Junior Eurovision and Manw will be its first representative in the contest. The young female artist battled with 5 other contestants in the national final of Chwilio am Seren at the the Venue Cymru in Llandudno. The six finalists were selected after rounds of auditions and live performances. The competing acts of the final were:
- Ella
- Gracie Jayne
- Lily
- Manw
- Lauren
- Misha
The national final consisted of two rounds. In the first round all six singers performed covers of existing songs. The three mentors, Connie Fisher, Stifyn Parri and Tara Bethan expressed their impressions and opinions on the performaces but without having the right to vote. Once the 6 finalists had completed their performance, five jury panels in Aberystwyth, Llandudno, Carmarthen, Cardiff and London voted for the three singers they wanted to see in next round of the show. Manw, Ella and Lily were selected by the juries.
After the three qualifying acts proceeded in the next round where they had to sing Hi yw y Berta. Once this round of performances was over it was time for the Welsh public to vote for the singer they wanted to see on the Minsk Arena stage representing the nation. Public voting declared Manw the act to represent Wales in its first participation in Junior Eurovision.
