Wales: National broadcaster S4C has frozen all decisions regarding  Junior Eurovision 2020 participation

Accoding to the spanish media outlet, Eurofestivales , the Welsh broadcaster S4C and production company Rondo Media have put on ice all decisions regarding the nation’s participation in Junior Eurovision 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

Both the television producer Rondo Media and the television channel S4C through their respective press departments, have stated to Eurofestivals that at the moment everything is stopped due to the global situation of COVID-19 in relation to the possible participation of the country in the Festival of Eurovisión Junior 2020.

The press department of the Galician chain S4C, affirmed that the decisions on the participation of Wales in the junior’s contest have not yet been made due to the current situation that is going through. The country usually begins looking for its representative in the first months of the year, with the audition rounds taking place in late April. Something that logically this year has not happened when stopping the decision of whether the country would participate or not in the new edition of Junior Eurovision.

So far Ireland, Georgia, Poland, the Netherlands and Russia have officially confirmed their participation for the Eurovision Song Contest Junior 2020, which will be held in Poland in late November.

The Story so Far

Wales debuted at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2018. In 2019 the country returned to participate being represented by Erin Mai Grove with her song “Calon yn Curo”, ranking second to last with 35 points.
